This game which is played on the table with the use of hands is known as "Foosball". The another name of foosball is table soccer or table football. Basically, this game consists of a table, a ball and the plastic characters attached on the rods of both the teams.
Players of both the teams have to move the rods so that character attached on the rod also moves and the aim is to move the ball towards the goal. The main concept of game is same as football.
This game was invented in 1921 by 'Harold Searles Thornton' in United Kingdom where he patented the game. He invented the game due to the popularity of football in Europe. So Harold decided to make the game same as football which can be played in the homes.
ABOUT ITSF
The highest international organization of this game is International Table Soccer Federation (ITSF) which was established in France in 2002 with the mission of promoting the game.
INTERNATIONAL EVENTS
Even foosball have international events and world cup. ITSF decided to coincide the world cup with FIFA world cup but it has run annually sice 2009. The ITSF 2013 world cup/championship was very huge and famous in which almost 500 players from 30 countries compete with each other in Nantes, France. Team US won the world cup 2013.
The ITSF world tour recently came to Asian countries to promote the game and on the results, in 2016 Phillipines hosted the Manila Bay Open. The game is popularizing very fast in the world. Many countries have the national organization for the events in their countries. India also have a "Federation of Table Soccer" which organize the events on the national level but foosball is not so famous in India yet and it is basically found in the clubs, pubs etc.
