The sport is baseball. Two teams play this game at a time. Baseball is the sport which is played in outdoor stadium. This game is similar to cricket in which there is a cylindrical bat and a ball. Each team plays with 9 players.
One player from a team do the batting and a player from opponent team do balling. The pitcher throws the ball towards the batsman and batsman has to hit the ball and run across the field in a square manner by leaving his bat. If batsman hit the ball out of the boundary (like a six in cricket), it will be considered as 'Homerun'.
The baseball was started in the US in 1700s and 1800s. The game was invented by a man named Abner Doubleday. The game is most popular in US and Japan.
MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL (MLB)
Major League Baseball (MLB) is the professional baseball organization and also the oldest major professional sports league in US and Canada. MLB is basically consists of two leagues 'National League' and 'American League'. Both the teams have 15 teams in each, so the total number of teams in MLB is 30. NL was formed in 1876 and AL was in 1901. Both the leagues were merged into a single organization in 2000. MLB also manages the international World Baseball Classic tournament with the World Baseball Softball Confederation.
In MLB, there are 30 teams in total in which 29 teams are from United States and 1 is from Canada. Most of the titles of MLB have been won by New York Yankees (27 titles). New York Yankees is the team of American League.
INDIA IN BASEBALL
The game is not so popular in India but India also played International tournament of the baseball. As of 2016, India had two international players, Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel, both were in the "Pittsburgh Pirates" organization which is a team in Major American Baseball team.
India once won an international tournament of baseball. In September 2015, India defeated national team of Iran by 11-10 and won the gold medal in the Presidential Cup, a friendly baseball tournament held at Tehran, Iran. That was the first ever international tournament win for India in baseball.
